Protect Your Oral Health
Maintaining good oral health is about more than brushing and flossing your teeth. If you participate in sports or clench or grind your teeth while you sleep, a dental appliance could help protect your smile.
Sports guards and mouth guards work by providing a protective layer between your upper and lower teeth, and between your teeth and the soft tissues of your mouth. This can help to prevent sports impact injuries, reduce pressure on your jaw caused by clenching your teeth and prevent tooth wear.
At Amirault Dental Centre, we offer custom sports mouth guards and night guards to help protect your teeth and maintain the health of your oral cavity.
Sleep Disordered Breathing & CPAP
Snoring occurs when the soft tissues in the throat relax and block the airway, causing the sound many of us are familiar with.
If you have been diagnosed with sleep apnea, it means that your throat tissues over-relax and obstruct the airway. Your brain will be forced to wake you up to breathe.
To treat snoring and sleep apnea, your dentist may recommend a custom-made oral appliance. These appliances can move the muscles of the lower jaw and tongue, opening the airway to improve airflow.
More severe sleep apnea may require CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure). A mask is placed over the nose as the patient sleeps, allowing the CPAP machine to provide mild air pressure to help keep airways open and breath flowing freely.
Custom-Fitted Mouth Guards
Our dentists offer custom-made mouth guards to fit over teeth to protect them from damage.
Sports Guards
If you get hit in the mouth during a sports activity, a mouth guard provides a barrier between your teeth and the soft tissue of your mouth to help protect your smile.
Night Guards
If you grind your teeth during sleep, a mouth guard can help protect your teeth from damage. If you clench your jaw, a mouth guard will also help prevent you from clenching and can help to relieve pain.
