Oral Surgery
Treating Dental Health Problems
Oral surgeries are procedures that involve the diagnosis and surgical treatment of diseases, injuries and defects in the hard and soft tissues of the face, mouth, teeth and jaws.
While our team at Amirault Dental Centre always prefers to use the least invasive treatment possible, there are times when oral surgery is necessary.
Whether you need a wisdom tooth extraction, frenectomy, or dental implant, our team can provide the care you need to help resolve your dental issue and set you on the path to improve your oral health.
Dental Implants
A dental implant is a small titanium screw that functions like a natural tooth root. For many people, dental implants are an ideal way to replace missing teeth and help prevent ongoing dental health issues. When combined with a tooth replacement, the dental implant closely resembles the look and feel of a natural tooth.
Tooth Extractions
While preserving a natural tooth is ideal, in certain situations it's not possible. When a tooth has suffered extensive damage due to decay, gum disease, or injury, your dentist might find it necessary to extract the affected tooth. Your dentist will guide you through the process and discuss tooth replacement options.
Wisdom Tooth Removal
Wisdom teeth are the final set of molars that erupt in the back corners of a normal adult mouth. If the wisdom teeth are causing problems for your oral hygiene, your dentist might recommend removing them to help preserve your oral health.
Gum Grafts
A gum graft is a dental procedure that involves taking tissue from the patient's palate and attaching it to the area where gum recession has occurred. This process helps cover exposed tooth roots, preventing further gum recession and alleviating symptoms such as tooth sensitivity or risk of tooth loss.
Frenectomy
Frenectomy is a surgical procedure performed under local anesthesia to treat conditions commonly known as tongue-tie or lip-tie. This process can be performed on children or adults, and allows the tongue to move more freely and naturally.
Bone Grafts
During a bone graft, the dentist adds extra material to the jaw to help strengthen and thicken the bone. This procedure is often performed in order to ensure that the jaw is strong enough to support dental implants.
