Extractions & Wisdom Teeth
Removing Problematic Teeth
While preserving a natural tooth is always the preferred option, there are some cases where it may not be feasible.
When a tooth is severely damaged, causing pain or leading to other oral health problems, it may have to be removed by your dentist.
The extraction process is performed under local anesthesia to help ensure that you do not experience pain during the procedure.
Your dentist may recommend a tooth replacement option such as a dental implant or a bridge to fill the gap left by the missing tooth and prevent further oral health issues from developing.
Wisdom Tooth Removal
Wisdom teeth are the last molars to erupt, usually in patients aged 17 to 25.
This third set of teeth is not always functional and can push against the nearby teeth as they erupt, causing damage. They can also cause oral hygiene problems, as it can be difficult to reach the back of the mouth with the toothbrush.
If wisdom teeth are causing pain or leading to dental health problems, the dentist may recommend removing them.
Removing Damaged Teeth
In most cases, your dentist will work to save a tooth whenever possible. However, severe damage due to injury, gum disease, or excessive decay, may lead to the need for an extraction.
If you need a tooth extraction, our team at Amirault Dental Centre will explain the various tooth replacement options that are available and recommend the solutions that best fit your needs.
After a tooth extraction, our goal is to help you reestablish optimal oral health by preventing further problems from developing.
